1. भारत ने रेखीन राज्य के लिए $25 मिलियन की सहायता की घोषणा की

भारत ने म्यांमार के रेखीन राज्य के लिए 25 मिलियन डॉलर की विकास सहायता की घोषणा की, जहां से समुदाय के खिलाफ हिंसा की घटनाओं से हाल ही में हज़ारों रोहिंग्या मुसलमान चले गए थे।

• विदेश सचिव एस जयशंकर द्वारा म्यांमार का दौरा करने और म्यांमार के राज्य सलाहकार आंग सान सु की से मुलाकात के एक दिन बाद यह फैसला आया।
• अगस्त के बाद से बड़े पैमाने पर हिंसा के बाद अनुमानित 6,00,000 मुसलमान म्यांमार के रेख़ीन राज्य से पलायन कर गए हैं।

2. भारत मिस्र के अल अजहर विश्वविद्यालय में आईटी केंद्र स्थापित करेगा

भारत मिस्र के सर्वोच्च धार्मिक प्राधिकरण और सुन्नी मुस्लिम लर्निंग के लिये दुनिया की सबसे प्रतिष्ठित सीटों में से एक अल अज़हर विश्वविद्यालय में सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी उत्कृष्टता केंद्र (सीईआईटी) स्थापित करेगा।

• भारत के मिस्र में राजदूत संजय भट्टाचार्य ने कहा कि सभी उपकरण और पाठ्यक्रम सामग्री मिस्र तक पहुंच गई है और सीआईईटी के लिए परिसर तैयार किया जा रहा है जो देश के युवाओं को उच्च तकनीक शिक्षा और कौशल प्रदान करेगा।

3. बेंगलुरु 7वें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कॉफी समारोह की मेजबानी करेगा

इंडिया इंटरनेशनल कॉफी फेस्टिवल (आईआईसीएफ) का सातवां संस्करण 16-19 जनवरी को बेंगलुरु में आयोजित किया जाएगा।

• चार दिवसीय आईआईसीएफ 2018, भारत कॉफी ट्रस्ट और सरकारी कॉफी बोर्ड द्वारा विश्व स्तर पर भारतीय कॉफी को बढ़ावा देने के लिए आयोजित किया जा रहा है, जिसके 100 से अधिक कंपनियों, 600 प्रतिनिधियों और 10,000 से अधिक दर्शकों को आकर्षित करने की उम्मीद है।
• आईआईसीएफ 2018 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कॉफी संगठन के विश्व कॉफी सम्मेलन की तैयारी साबित होगा जिसे 2020 में भारत द्वारा बंगलौर में आयोजित किया जा रहा है।

4. भारतीय नौसेना ने ओमान नौसेना के साथ नसीम-अल-बहर अभ्यास किया  

द्विपक्षीय अभ्यास 'नसीम अल बहर' या 'सी ब्रीज़' के लिए भारतीय नौसेना जहाज त्रिंकंद और तेग ओमान में तैनात किए गए हैं।

• यह अभ्यास का 11वां संस्करण है और 1993 के बाद से द्विवार्षिक रूप से आयोजित किया जाता रहा है।
• बंदरगाह चरण के लिए 16 दिसंबर 2017 को भारतीय जहाज ने मस्कट में प्रवेश किया था।

5. बिजनेस के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ देशों की फोर्ब्स की 2018 सूची में ब्रिटेन सबसे ऊपर 

यूनाइटेड किंगडम ने फोर्ब्स की रैंकिंग में दुनिया में बिजनेस के लिए सबसे अच्छे देशों की रैंकिंग में 2018 में पहली बार पहला स्थान हासिल किया है, जो पिछले साल पांचवां था।

• सूची में 153 देशों में संपत्ति के अधिकार, नवाचार, कर और रेड टेप सहित 15 कारकों को शामिल किया गया।
• ब्रिटेन के बाद न्यूजीलैंड और नीदरलैंड हैं, जबकि भारत को सूची में 62 वां स्थान दिया गया है।
• चाड लगातार तीसरे साल के लिए अंतिम स्थान पर है।

6. 2022 कॉमनवेल्थ गेम्स में शूटिंग शामिल नहीं

बर्मिंघम खेलों के अधिकारियों ने शूटिंग को अंतिम कार्यक्रम में शामिल नहीं किया है जो कि वैकल्पिक खेलों की सूची में शामिल था।

• इसके बजाय आयोजकों ने 10 अनिवार्य खेलों के अलावा सात वैकल्पिक खेल के रूप में जूडो, टेबल टेनिस, कुश्ती, जिमनास्टिक्स, डाइविंग, सायक्लिंग और 3v3 बास्केटबॉल का चुनाव किया।
• बर्मिंघम राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों के लिए खेल की अंतिम सूची को वर्ष के आखिर तक अंतिम रूप दिया जाएगा।
• इस बीच, संभावना है कि 2022 संस्करण में मिश्रित ट्वेंटी 20 (टी 20) प्रारूप में क्रिकेट शामिल हो सकता है।

7. यूपी के पूर्व राज्यपाल बीएल जोशी का निधन

फेफडों के संक्रमण के बाद सेपेटिक शॉक के कारण यूपी के पूर्व राज्यपाल बनवारी लाल जोशी का एम्स में निधन हो गया। वह 82 वर्ष के थे।

• उन्होंने 2009 से 2014 तक यूपी के राज्यपाल और 2004-07 तक दिल्ली के लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर के रूप में सेवा की।
• जोशी ने मेघालय और उत्तराखंड के राज्यपाल के रूप में भी काम किया।

1. India declares $25 million assistance for Rakhine State

India has announced a development assistance of $25 million for Myanmar’s Rakhine State, from where thousands of Rohingya Muslims recently fled following incidents of violence against the community.

• This came a day after Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar visited Myanmar and met Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi.
• An estimated 6,00,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar’s Rakhine State since late August after large-scale violence there.

2. India to set up IT centre in Egypt's Al Azhar University

India will be establishing a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) at Al Azhar University, Egypt's highest religious authority and one of the world's most eminent seats of Sunni Muslim learning.

• All the equipment and course material has reached Egypt and premises are being prepared for CIET, which will provide high-tech education and skills to the country's youth, India's Ambassador to Egypt, Sanjay Bhattacharyya, said.

3. Bengaluru to host 7th international coffee fest

The seventh edition of the India International Coffee Festival (IICF) will be held in Bengaluru from January 16-19.

• The four-day IICF 2018, being organised by the India Coffee Trust and State-run Coffee Board to promote the Indian coffees globally, is expected to attract over 100 companies, 600 delegates and some 10,000 visitors, organisers said.
• IICF 2018 would be a precursor to the International Coffee Organisation’s World Coffee Conference being hosted by India in Bengaluru in 2020.

4. Indian Navy Conducts Exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr with Oman Navy

Indian Naval Ships Trikand and Teg are deployed to Oman for bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ or ‘Sea Breeze’.

• This exercise is the 11th edition and has been a biennial feature since 1993.
• The Indian ships entered Muscat on 16 December 2017 for the harbour phase.

5. UK tops Forbes’ List of Best Countries for Business in 2018

The United Kingdom has topped Forbes’ rankings of best countries in the world for business in 2018 for the first time, up from fifth last year.

• The list ranks 153 countries on 15 factors including property rights, innovation, taxes and red tape.
• The UK is followed by New Zealand and the Netherlands, while India was ranked 62nd on the list.
• Chad ranks last for the third straight year.

6. Shooting excluded from 2022 Commonwealth Games

Birmingham Games officials did not pick shooting, which features in the list of optional sports, for the final programme.

• Instead the organisers chose judo, table tennis, wrestling, gymnastics, diving, cycling and 3v3 basketball as the seven optional sports apart from the 10 mandatory ones.
• The final list of sports for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games is set to be finalised by end of the year.
• Meanwhile, there are chances that cricket could feature at the 2022 edition, albeit in a mixed-gender Twenty20 (T20) format.

7. Ex-UP governor BL Joshi passes away at AIIMS

Former UP governor Banwari Lal Joshi passed away at AIIMS due to septic shock following an infection of the valves. He was 82.

• He served as governor of UP from 2009 to 2014 and lieutenant governor of Delhi from 2004-07.
• Joshi also served as governor of Meghalaya and Uttarakhand.
