1. अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वृद्ध दिवस: 1 अक्टूबर

अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वृद्ध दिवस हर साल 1 अक्टूबर को मनाया जाता है।

• 14 दिसंबर, 1990 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 1 अक्टूबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वृद्ध दिवस के रूप में संकल्प 45/106 में दर्ज करने के लिए मतदान किया।
• 1 अक्टूबर 1991 को पहली बार यह दिवस मनाया गया था।
• अंतर्राष्ट्रीय वृद्ध दिवस 2017 का विषय है “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society”।

2. संयुक्त अरब अमीरात तंबाकू, ऊर्जा पेय पर 'सिन' कर लगायेगा

संयुक्त अरब अमीरात ने तम्बाकू उत्पादों, ऊर्जा पेय और शीतल पेय पर नया "सिन" कर लगाने का फैसला लिया है।

• तंबाकू और ऊर्जा पेय पर 100 प्रतिशत और शीतल पेय पर 50 प्रतिशत कर लगाया जाएगा।
• संयुक्त अरब अमीरात और अन्य तेल-संपन्न खाड़ी देशों ने कम वैश्विक ऊर्जा की कीमतों के चलते नए कर का प्रावधान किया है।

3. रक्षा मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने किया प्रथम-श्योक सेतु का उद्घाटन

रक्षामंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने लेह में रणनीतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण प्रथम-श्योक सेतु का उद्घाटन किया। यह सेतु लेह से काराकोरम को जोड़ेगा। इस सेतु के दारबुक-श्योक और दौलत बेग एक दूसरे से जुड़ जाएंगे।

• इस सेतु के कारण क्षेत्रीय लोगों व सेन को भी आवाजाही में काफी सहुलियत मिलेगी।
• यह सामरिक परिवहन के लिए यात्रा और संचार बढायेगा, मंत्री ने कहा।

 4. वुमेन इंडिया ऑर्गेनिक फेस्टिवल का तीसरा संस्करण

भारत भर से जैविक क्षेत्र में महिला उद्यमियों और किसानों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए, महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय नई दिल्ली में 1 से 15 अक्टूबर  2017 तक तीसरे वार्षिक वुमेन इंडिया ऑर्गेनिक फेस्टिवल की मेजबानी कर रहा है।

• महिला और बाल विकास मंत्री केन्द्रीय मेनका संजय गांधी ने महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय के राज्य मंत्री श्री वीरेन्द्र कुमार की उपस्थिति में 1 अक्टूबर को दिल्ली हाट (आईएनए) में इसका उद्घाटन किया।
• 'गुड फॉर वुमेन; गुड फॉर इंडिया; गुड फॉर यू’ विषय के साथ मंत्रालय जैविक वस्तुओं के स्वास्थ्य और पर्यावरणीय लाभों को उजागर करना चाहता है व इसमें शामिल महिलाओं के लिए एक मंच प्रदान करता है और भारत के दूरस्थ कोनों से महिलाओं के लिए टिकाऊ और आसानी से सुलभ बिक्री आउटलेट के विकास को बढ़ावा देता है।

5. भारत ने म्यांमार, बांग्लादेश सीमा पर दो चेक पोस्ट खोले

भारत ने म्यांमार और बांग्लादेश के साथ सीमाओं पर दो आव्रजन चेक पोस्ट खोले हैं, जो दोनों पड़ोसियों के साथ बढ़ती निकटता का प्रतीक है।

• गृह मंत्रालय ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार ने मिजोरम के लॉंगतलाई जिले में ज़ोरिनपई चेक पोस्ट को वैध यात्रा दस्तावेज के साथ म्यामांर से भारत आने या भारत से जाने वाले यात्रियों के लिए अधिकृत आव्रजन चेक पोस्ट के रूप में मंजूरी दी हैं।
• एक अलग अधिसूचना में, मंत्रालय ने कहा कि केंद्र सरकार ने मिजोरम के लुंगलेई जिले में कावरपुईछुआह चेक पोस्ट को वैध यात्रा दस्तावेज के साथ बांग्लादेश से भारत आने या भारत से जाने वाले यात्रियों के लिए अधिकृत आव्रजन चेक पोस्ट के रूप में मंजूरी दी हैं।
• भारत म्यांमार के साथ 1,643 किमी लंबी सीमा साझा करता है जो अरुणाचल प्रदेश, नागालैंड, मणिपुर और मिजोरम को छूती है।
• बांग्लादेश के साथ भारत 4,096 किमी लंबी सीमा साझा करता है जो असम, त्रिपुरा, मिजोरम, मेघालय और पश्चिम बंगाल को छूती है।

6. राष्ट्रपति कोविंद ने शिरडी हवाई अड्डे का उद्घाटन किया

राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद ने अहमदनगर में नए शिरडी हवाई अड्डा और मुंबई की नई एल्लायंस एयर वाणिज्यिक उड़ान का उद्घाटन किया।

• महाराष्ट्र एयरपोर्ट डेवलपमेंट कॉरपोरेशन (एमएडीसी) द्वारा विकसित हवाईअड्डे का उद्घाटन के साथ ही साईबाबा समाधि के साल भर के शताब्दी समारोह की शुरुआत हुई है, जिसके लिए 11 लाख से अधिक तीर्थयात्रियों के दुनिया भर से आन की उम्मीद है।
• पश्चिमी महाराष्ट्र का छोटा सा शहर 20 वीं शताब्दी के संत, जिन्हें साईबाबा के नाम से जाना जाता है, के 'समाधि' मंदिर के लिए एक विश्व प्रसिद्ध तीर्थ स्थान है, जो सभी समुदायों द्वारा सम्मानित है।

7. राष्ट्रपति ने राज्यपालों की नियुक्ति की

राष्ट्रपति ने निम्नलिखित नियुक्तियों को स्वीकृति दी गई है।

• बिग्रेडियर (डॉ) बी.डी मिश्रा (सेवानिवृत) अरूणाचल प्रदेश के राज्यपाल।
• श्री सत्यपाल मलिक बिहार के राज्यपाल।
• श्री बनवारी लाल पुरोहित तमिलनाडु के राज्यपाल।
• प्रोफेसर श्री जगदीश मुखी असम के राज्यपाल।
• श्री गंगा प्रसाद मेघालय के राज्यपाल।
• एडमिरल देवेंद्र कुमार जोशी को अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह के लेफ्टिनेंट गवर्नर के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है।

1. International Day of Older Persons: October 1

The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year.

On December 14, 1990 the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons as recorded in Resolution 45/106. 

The day was observed for the first time on October 1, 1991.

The theme of the International Day of Older Persons 2017 is “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society.”

2. UAE begins collecting 'sin' taxes on tobacco, energy drinks

The United Arab Emirates has begun collecting new "sin" taxes on tobacco products, energy drinks and soft drinks.

• Tobacco and energy drinks will be taxed at 100 percent and soft drinks at 50 percent.
• The new tax push comes as the UAE and other oil-rich Gulf nations have struggled with low global energy prices.

3. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates Pratham-Shyok bridge in Leh

  

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Pratham-Shyok bridge that will link Leh to Karakoram, providing connectivity on the strategically important Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Olde axis for military transport.

• The bridge is a major development on the Shyok Gong river which will enhance travel of locals as well as the Army in this strategic region.
• It will increase travel and communication for strategic transport, the Minister said.

4. The third edition of 'Women of India Organic Festival'

To celebrate and promote women entrepreneurs and farmers in the organic sector from across India, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is hosting the 3rd annual ‘Women of India Organic Festival’ from October 1st to 15th, 2017, in New Delhi.

• Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, inaugurated the festival in the presence of Shri Virendra Kumar, Minister of State, Ministry of Women and Child Development, on October 1 at Dilli Haat (INA).
• With the theme ‘Good for Women; Good for India; Good for You’, the Ministry intends to highlight the health and environmental advantages of organic goods, provide a platform for women engaged in it and boost the development of sustainable and easily accessible sales outlets for women producers from the remotest corners of India.

5. India opens two border crossing points with Myanmar, Bangladesh

India has opened two immigration check posts along the borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh, a reflection of its growing closeness with the two eastern neighbours.

• The home ministry said the central government has designated Zorinpui land check post in Lawngtlai district of Mizoram as an authorised immigration check post for entry into or exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers to or from Myanmar.
• In a separate notification, the ministry said the central government designated Kawrpuichhuah land check post in Lunglei district of Mizoram as an authorised immigration check post for entry into or exit from India with valid travel documents for all classes of passengers to or from Bangladesh.
• India shares a 1,643-km-long border with Myanmar which touches Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.
• India shares a 4,096-km-long border with Bangladesh which touches Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and West Bengal.

6. President Kovind inaugurates Shirdi Airport

President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the swank new Shirdi Airport in Ahmednagar and the inaugural Alliance Air commercial flight to Mumbai.

• The inauguration of the airport, developed by Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation (MADC), also marks the start of the year-long centenary celebrations of Shri Saibaba Samadhi for which over 11 million pilgrims are expected from around the world.
• The small town in western Maharashtra is a world-famous pilgrim spot for the ‘samadhi’ temple of a 20th century saint, known as Saibaba, who is revered by all communities.

7. President of India appoints Governors

• Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh
• Shri Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of Bihar
• Shri Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Tamil Nadu
• Prof. Jagdish Mukhi as the Governor of Assam
• Shri Ganga Prasad as the Governor of Meghalaya
• Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
